There is a lot of hype over the new Lego Marvel mini-figures, 12 new characters crashing into the Lego universe, and 12 exciting minifigures to collect, with the good news that due to the fact, they are now coming in cardboard boxes, The packaging will be fully recyclable, as you will realise all the Lego is loose in the box so no annoying plastic at all. The bad news however is there will be no feeling around for the sets anymore to see which one you will be getting, but there may be a way around that to ensure you can get the ones you are after.
Let’s explore these new minifigures, what there is to collect, whether they will be and how to guarantee a full set.
The 12 new Marvel minifigures
- Agatha Harkness
- Moon Knight
- Werewolf by Night
- Mr. Knight
- She-Hulk
- Hawkeye
- Kate Bishop
- Goliath
- Echo
- Wolverine
- Beast
- Storm
How to get a full set
So you may not be able to feel around the Lego Marvel mini-figures, but where there is a will there is a way to ensure you get the full set.
Exploring the internet there have been some ways that others have found how to get their hands on a full set without wasting their time.
Buy a full box
One surefire way is to buy a full box of the mini-figures, it has been confirmed that if you get your hands on a full box of 36, then you will have 3 full sets.
Wh smith had them at pre-order for £119.99 so a small discount and said when buying 36 their intention is to supply with a full box, so could be a great way to find out.
Check their weights
The most impressive method I have found so far is from Jays brick blog, which has the weights for all of the different Lego minifigure packs, so if done right you will know exactly what set you will be opening. Some issue here is that you will need scales that are very exact, and not sure whether you would get away with measuring them in the middle of Tesco.
Whether it will work or not we will have to see, but realistically if going to do this, your going to have to buy a box, I have not got the balls to go in the shop weighing all the blind boxes. But credit to those who do.
It’s an expensive business
I am never a fan of blind bags in any toy variety, it’s rather frustrating spending out on sets that could end up being duplicates, there can be lots of money spent on unnecessary toys.
Ultimately got to do what is right for you as an individual, be wary of following people’s golden theories, as there has been a lot of talk of the codes etc and it seems that isn’t wholly accurate.
Normally our little monsters are not as obsessed about getting the whole packet, and buying 1 or 2 packs and seeing what they get is quite fun. But as soon as you commit to getting all 12 then that Is where you start down the path or forking out loads, or if you are chasing one in particular mini figure the same applies. As frustrating as it is, if you want specific ones, then you may want to buy on the aftermarket, to get the guaranteed sets you want. This will mean paying over the odds, but probably cheaper than chasing.
Will the new Lego Marvel series 2 be good investment?
I think the only way I would invest in these sets, would be to buy and sell them as whole sets, otherwise, it seems like a lot of work. Many are being sold on Amazon and eBay as blind bags but it seems a cheeky way of doing it and selling the extortionately when people don’t quite know what they are getting.
If you look at the full sets, if you could buy them all at £3.49 you would be paying just over £40 for a complete set (if you are lucky) On Amazon you can now buy a full set for £140, so easily be a 100% return, or on eBay they are selling for about £90
However what must be considered is the amount of work that will need to go into these to make them profitable, particularly if they are harder to discover than in the blind bags.
Lego investing for me is about as little work as possible and this may not be the case with these if done fairly
