LEGO 76917 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) Investment Watchlist

Set Overview

The LEGO 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) (76917) is part of the LEGO Speed Champions theme and was released in January 2023 with an RRP of £19.99. The set has remained consistently popular since its release, maintaining a strong sales rank and benefiting from recognition. This set is a double whammy, Speed champions are always popular collectable items, but equally, as it is from the Fast and Furious franchise. It has that double collectability

With retirement expected July 2026, the Skyline GT-R represents one of the more recognisable licensed vehicles in the Speed Champions range and continues to attract both LEGO collectors and car enthusiasts.

Historic Price Behaviour

Since release, the set has regularly been discounted into the £14–£17 range during sales events while maintaining strong availability across major retailers. Despite these discounts, demand has remained steady, suggesting continued popularity rather than clearance-driven sales.

Speed Champions sets typically see strong volume sales due to their lower price point, making them accessible entry-level purchases for both collectors and casual buyers.

Investment Thoughts

  • Strong licensing through the Fast & Furious franchise
  • Highly recognisable real-world vehicle
  • Low entry price encourages multiple purchases
  • Speed Champions theme has a strong post-retirement history

Licensed car models within the Speed Champions theme have historically performed well after retirement, particularly when linked to well-known brands or film franchises. The Nissan Skyline GT-R benefits from long-standing popularity within car culture, which helps support demand beyond the LEGO collector market.

Speed champions will always routinely go up in price. Because this is an obvious investment, it will be heavily invested in, you will need to wait out people taking minimal profits.
I am looking at this set going to £40 – it should go to £30 quite comfortably post retirement, but if stock is limited in Q4 of 2026, we could have a really nice, quick turnaround

Comparable Retired Sets

The best example of a similar set is the last time a Fast and Furious speed champs set retired, which was 76912, which retired in December 2023. Within a year, it was already at £40, which at a £12 buy price was a big return.

Now it sits at over £60 and is still shifting well.

Buy on Amazon

This is probably on the extreme side of price rises, and perhaps more limited in scope so price has done so well. However, speed champs always do well.

But then, if we have a look at some others.

From 2024 retirements: 76914 / 76915 / 76916 are all over £30.

But these above sets, although doing well,l aren’t linked to a film franchise – so this set has the opportunity for even more profit.

These examples highlight how recognisable licensed vehicles in the Speed Champions range can continue to perform steadily once retail supply ends.

BrickAnalyst Verdict

Buy under: £15 is the minimum you should be paying as it is available at this price a lot. Anything below is a great discount
Hold period: 1-2 years post retirement
⚠️ Risk level: Low (high supply but strong demand)
